Taghazout Bay Beyond the Sunbed: Surf, Villas, and Coastal Chill with Teen Sons
After days of dusty roads, long drives, and intense desert heat, reaching the Atlantic coast was the ultimate reward. We drove 5.5 hours west to finish our 11-night road trip in Tamraght and Taghazout Bay, a vibrant coastal area just north of Agadir.
This region is famous worldwide for its surf culture, laid-back atmosphere, and modern beach scene. It is the perfect place for a mum traveling with teenage boys because it combines high-energy water sports with premium beachside comfort. We spent four nights here, and frankly, we would have loved to stay much longer.

Here is why Taghazout Bay makes the perfect grand finale to a Moroccan adventure.
⚡ Quick Look: Where to Stay on the Surf Coast
Because this was the wind-down leg of our trip, I wanted accommodation that felt special, relaxed, and spacious enough for two growing teenage boys.

- Where We Stayed: Radisson Blu Resort, Taghazout Bay Surf Village – This resort is absolutely fabulous and styled like a chic, eco-friendly coastal hamlet. We lucked out and got upgraded to a two-storey, two-bedroom villa, which was incredible. It had a massive kitchen and living area downstairs with a sofa bed, giving the boys plenty of space to stretch out. The resort pool is gorgeous, the vibe is young and active, and the location right on the beach is unbeatable.

The Luxury All-Inclusive Alternative: Fairmont Taghazout Bay – If you want ultimate five-star luxury with multiple infinity pools, a world-class spa, and fine dining right on the oceanfront, the Fairmont is the top tier choice in the bay.
🌊 Beachside Action: High-Speed Water Sports
While Taghazout is world-renowned for its surfing and surf schools, you don’t have to be a pro surfer to enjoy the water here. The wide, sandy bays are fantastic for all kinds of ocean adventures.

1. Jet Skiing in the Bay
After days of hiking and camel riding, the boys were itching for some high-speed thrill. We headed down to the water for an afternoon of jet skiing. Flying across the Atlantic waves with the sea spray in your face is brilliant fun, and it is exactly the kind of fast-paced activity that keeps teenagers completely thrilled and engaged.
2. Exploring the Surf Villages
The twin villages of Tamraght and Taghazout are well worth exploring. They are packed with surf shops, cool rooftop cafes, and a really vibrant, international beach culture. It feels very safe and easy to wander around, making it another great spot where you can let the boys explore a bit on their own while you soak up the coastal views.
🍽️ Themed Buffets, Cocktails, and Halloween Parties
One of the biggest highlights of the Radisson Blu Surf Village was the food. Feeding teenagers can be an expensive challenge, but the resort made it seamless and exciting.
- The Daily Feast: The hotel put on a different themed buffet every single night. The quality of the food was excellent, and the variety meant there was always something new for the boys to try (and plenty of it to fill them up).
- A Sahara Halloween: Because we traveled during the October school half term, we happened to be at the resort for Halloween. The hotel threw a Halloween party one evening which was incredibly fun and well-done. It added a brilliant, memorable twist to our stay.

- Sunset Cocktails: After a busy day of swimming, chilling by the pool, and jet skiing, our favorite evening routine was heading to the resort bar. Enjoying a few well-earned evening cocktails (and mocktails for the boys) while watching the sun sink into the Atlantic Ocean was the perfect way to reflect on our epic road trip.

🚗 The Final Drive: Aït Benhaddou to Agadir
The final leg of our road trip was a 5.5-hour drive from Guest House Bagdad Café near Aït Benhaddou down to the coast. It is a long journey that takes you out of the high Atlas peaks and down towards the sea.
As I mentioned in our main itinerary, this drive is beautiful but requires concentration, especially as you navigate around local traffic and those frequent police checkpoints. But driving into Taghazout Bay and seeing the ocean for the first time makes every single hour in the car completely worth it.
🎒 Final Thoughts on Our Morocco Adventure
Morocco is an incredible country for a mum to tackle with her teenage sons. By skipping the standard tourist traps of Marrakech, choosing authentic cities like Fes, glamping in the Sahara, and ending with a premium villa stay in Taghazout, we created a trip that balanced real, raw exploration with predictable comfort.
If you want to give your boys a holiday that expands their worldview while keeping them thoroughly entertained, download your offline maps, book those hotels with pools, and go create some memories!
